Payroll for up to five staff

Monthly payroll, CPF and IR8A for up to five employees sit inside the Complete package. Headcount above five is the obvious thing that changes the number.

Up to five staff included CPF for citizens and PRs IR8A due 1 March
How the fee works

Payroll inside Complete, not beside it

Payroll is one line in the Complete package, sitting next to the bookkeeping, the GST returns and the secretarial work. There is no separate payroll price on our list.

Running payroll away from the books leaves two records of the same salary payments and a reconciliation at year end that somebody pays for. Keeping both in one place is why the payroll line has no price of its own.

What moves the price

What pushes payroll past the package

Five employees is the line the package draws. Past that, the work grows with each person, and a few other habits make a small payroll behave like a much larger one.

Headcount above five

Each employee past the fifth adds a payslip, a CPF calculation and an IR8A return in March. Hiring mid year is normal, and the fee is adjusted from the month the headcount changes rather than backdated to the start of the engagement.

How pay is made up

A flat monthly salary is one calculation repeated. Commission, overtime, allowances and bonuses that move every month have to be collected from you, checked and then run, and that collecting is where most payroll hours quietly go.

Pass holders in the team

CPF contributions apply to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, so a team mixing locals with Employment Pass holders means two treatments inside one run. Errors in that split tend to surface at IR8A time in March, which is late to find them.

Pay frequency and cut off dates

One run a month on a fixed date is straightforward. Twice monthly pay, off cycle payments for leavers and a cut off that slips because timesheets arrive late all create extra runs, and every run is a separate piece of work.

Prices exclude GST. S$290 a month is the Complete package, covering payroll for up to five staff. Larger teams are quoted on headcount before the first run.

Common questions

What employers ask about payroll

Do I have to take the whole package to get payroll?

Payroll for up to five staff sits inside the Complete package. There is no standalone payroll rate, so tell us the headcount and what else you need and we will quote. For a company with books to keep anyway, the package is the cheaper route.

What happens when I hire a sixth employee?

The fee is adjusted from the month that person joins. Nothing is backdated and nothing is charged for a headcount you no longer have. Tell us before the pay run rather than after it, because a person added late gets paid late, and that conversation is worse than this one.

Do I pay CPF for an employee on an Employment Pass?

CPF contributions apply to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. A team with both locals and pass holders needs both treatments handled correctly in the same run, and the split has to be right in the payroll records as well as in the IR8A returns filed by 1 March.

I have no employees yet. Do I need payroll at all?

No. If nobody is being paid a salary, there is nothing to run, and paying for payroll inside a package you do not otherwise need makes little sense. A company with no trading and no staff usually belongs in Comply until that changes.

When are employee income returns due?

IR8A returns are due 1 March each year. They are prepared from the payroll records, which is why sloppy monthly runs turn into a scramble in February. Where payroll and bookkeeping sit with the same firm, the figures reconcile before they are filed rather than afterwards.

Tell us your headcount

Send the number of employees, how each one is paid and how many hold passes. That is enough for a payroll figure, and enough for us to say whether Complete already covers you as you are.
